Greatest Summerslam Matches: (#6) The Rock vs Brock Lesnar - WWE World Title- SS02

This was the match that showed Brock was ready for the big time.

Star-divide

Brock was still a WWE rookie at the time this match took place. He cemented his spot as #1 contender for the title by winning King of the Ring 2002 just a couple of months before this pay per view took place. This wasn't a super hot feud at the time, but it was a match that everyone was dying to see. Watch and enjoy!

Surely the pure sports build led to its success and not the fact that they made an intriguing match between two big stars seem important.

Anyone that would argue that it had a “pure sports build”…well, I think Heyman’s involvement destroys that.

“Pure Sports BUild” is code for “Not doing any incredibly stupid shit.”
