Greatest Summerslam Matches: (#17) The Rock vs Booker T- WCW World Title- SS 01

The main event at WWF Summerslam 2001 was for the WCW World Title. That is still wacky after all these years.

When the Rock lost the WWE World Title to Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 17, he took time off to film THE SCORPION KING. When Rock came back, the WWE were deep into their Invasion angle with the newly acquired WCW. Upon his RAW return, Rock sided with the WWE against WCW, which makes sense seeing as how Rock had only ever wrestled for the WWE. Later that week on SMACKDOWN, Booker T challenged The Rock to a match at SUMMERSLAM.

The WWE actually did a really good job of making Booker T look capable of defeating Rock. They had a variety of matches leading up to Summerslam, with Booker either getting the win in all of them, or delivering a beatdown to Rock after the match.
