The world's greatest active wrestler turns 44 today. Shawn Michaels has not only been the best in-ring performer in North America for a decade and a half, he played an important role in making wrestling cool again.

HBK knew how to excite fans just as much outside the ring as in it. He wasn't just a heel character, he was an asshole in real life too! Hell, his greatest moment was a behind the scenes triumph over his arch-rival Bret Hart, costing Hart his title, his reputation, his marriage, and his health. Now that's a heel!
